Dear Parents / Carers,
We wish to inform you of a trialled modification to the sports program for the 2026 Summer Pittwater Interschools Competition (IC) which you may, or may not, have already heard about.
This adjustment has been thoughtfully developed in response to declining enrolment numbers across all Pittwater PSSA schools in recent seasons. Our foremost priority has been to ensure that competitions remain viable, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for all students.
The decision follows a series of collaborative meetings involving Pittwater PSSA representatives and has received unanimous endorsement from all participating schools, following thorough consultation with Principals. This collective approach underscores our shared commitment to providing meaningful and inclusive sporting opportunities throughout the zone.
Key objectives of the revised competition structure include:
Maintaining an equitable gender balance
Ensuring the sustainability of competitions
Providing opportunities for students not selected for IC teams to remain engaged at school and continue developing skills, confidence, and enjoyment in sport
For the 2026 Summer Interschools Competition, the following sports will be offered:
Junior and Senior Hardball Cricket
Junior and Senior Girls’ Cricket
Junior and Senior Boys’ Basketball
Junior and Senior Girls’ Eagle Tag
Junior and Senior AFL
As this is a trial, the structure and offerings will be reviewed at the conclusion of the season to evaluate participation levels and inform future planning.
